Where to Get Cards Graded This Week: PSA Alternatives Compared (June 2026)
PSA paused all four of its Value grading tiers on June 2, 2026, sitting on a backlog of roughly 10 million cards. If you have raw cards you wanted graded cheaply, that door is closed for an estimated four months. Here's what's actually available right now, with published prices and turnaround times.
PSA — open, but premium-only
PSA is still grading; you just can't get in cheap. The open tiers as of early June 2026:
- Regular — $79.99/card, max declared value $1,500, est. 30–40 business days
- Express — $149/card, max $2,500, est. 20–30 business days
- Super Express — $349/card, max $5,000, est. 7–10 business days
- Walk-Through — $599/card, max $10,000, est. 5–7 business days
Bottom line: only worth it right now for cards whose PSA-label premium clearly beats the fee. An $80 minimum makes no sense for a $150 raw card.
CGC — the cheapest open bulk lane
CGC's bulk tier runs about $17/card with a listed turnaround around 120 days. Slow, but it's the closest thing to PSA's old Value pricing that still has an open door, and CGC slabs have solid acceptance in TCG markets especially.
Beckett — open, no bulk tier
Beckett (recently acquired by PSA's parent company, Collectors) doesn't offer a bulk tier, but its Base service runs $14.95/card without subgrades. Note the ownership: Beckett capacity and PSA capacity now ultimately answer to the same parent.
TAG — automated grading, transparent scoring
TAG uses patented computer-vision grading with a 1000-point score, full defect maps, and digital reports per card. Bulk starts around $19/card, with premium tiers reaching $299 for the fastest service. Best fit if you want the most detailed grade documentation in the industry.
AGS RoboGrading — the speed play
AGS grades with an AI system (laser scanning plus computer vision), publishes its scoring math, and is currently the fastest cheap option on the board:
- Bulk (30-card minimum): Value $15/card at 20 business days · Economy $20 at 10 days · Premier $30 at 5 days
- Speed tiers (no minimum): $50/card at 2–3 days · $75 next-day · $100 same-day · $200 Prestige same-day with insurance to $10,000
- Every card gets AI grading, four subgrades, and a digital defect report via QR code
- Grades modern sports cards (1990+) and all major TCGs; slabs are ultrasonic-welded, UV-resistant acrylic
Same-day grading exists here while PSA's cheapest open option takes 30–40 business days. For flippers who need inventory turned around during the pause, that's the whole argument.
The honest caveat: resale premium
A grade is only worth what buyers pay for the label. PSA slabs historically command the strongest prices at resale; CGC, TAG, and AGS slabs typically sell at a discount to the equivalent PSA grade. So the math for any card is: (expected sale price in this grader's holder) − (grading fee), not just the fee. For lower-value bulk where speed matters more than squeezing the last dollar, the alternatives win right now. For true high-end cards, PSA's premium tiers may still net more despite the cost.
