How Game 2 went
San Antonio came out swinging — 34-25 after one quarter behind Victor Wembanyama. Then New York flipped the game with a 31-18 second quarter and controlled the third, 28-23, building a lead as big as 14. The Spurs' fourth-quarter push (29-21, capped by that 14-0 run) fell exactly one point short.
The stat that decided it: New York hit 15 three-pointers to San Antonio's 11 and forced 16 turnovers with 11 steals, against a Spurs team that shot a better percentage from the field. Twenty-nine assists on 37 made baskets — the ball moved all night.
Knicks: who showed up
Karl-Anthony Towns was the best player in a Knicks uniform: 21 points and 13 rebounds on 8-of-12 shooting, 3-of-5 from three, a +11 on the floor. Mikal Bridges was nearly flawless — 20 points on 8-of-13, 4-of-6 from deep, six assists against one turnover.
Jalen Brunson ground out 20 points with six assists and five steals on a brutal shooting night (7-of-25) — the captain found other ways to win it. OG Anunoby added 17 points, two steals and two blocks, and Landry Shamet led a 27-point bench effort with 13.
Wemby did everything he could
Victor Wembanyama finished with 29 points, 9 rebounds and 4 blocks — and it still wasn't enough. De'Aaron Fox was ruthlessly efficient with 20 points on 8-of-12, rookie Dylan Harper put up 15, and Devin Vassell went for 14 points and 9 boards. Wemby's graded market has been the hottest corner of basketball all spring — a Finals comeback story would only pour fuel on it, and so would a Knicks sweep, in the other direction.
